WHAT TO DO

Indulge in Portland’s Famous Coffee Scene

Portland is celebrated for its thriving coffee culture. Top picks include:

Stumptown Coffee: A local legend with national acclaim.

Crema Coffee + Bakery: Incredible coffee and pastries.

Coava Coffee Roasters: Stylish cafés ideal for working or relaxing.

Good Coffee: Quality coffee served in friendly, welcoming cafés.

Experience Portland’s World-Class Food

Portland’s culinary scene is a paradise for foodies:

Lunch/Dinner: Gracie’s Apizza for outstanding pizza, Matt’s BBQ for authentic Texas-style barbecue, and the famous food carts at Cartopia.

Breakfast: Pip’s Original DoughnutsVoodoo Doughnut, and Fried Egg I’m In Love.

Explore Portland’s Craft Breweries

Home to the most breweries per capita in the U.S., Portland is a beer lover’s dream:

Classic breweries like McMenaminsDeschutes, and Rogue Ales.

Cascade Brewing Barrel House: Famous for unique sour beers.

Migration Brewing: Welcoming taprooms, excellent beers.

Ecliptic Brewing: Innovative craft beers with celestial inspiration.

Hike the Columbia River Gorge

The Columbia River divides Oregon and Washington and carves a deep river valley that is over 80 miles long. It is the largest National Scenic Area in the country and offers plenty of hiking trails for both day trips and backpacking. While you’re out there, be sure to make a stop at Multnomah Falls. While it can be very crowded, it’s worth a visit. We recommend trying to get there early in the morning to avoid the masses.

Mountain Bike Near Mt. Hood

Oregon is known to be home to world class mountain biking, and some of the best can be found just outside of Portland on the flanks of Mt. Hood. If you’re looking for something on the technical side, check out Surveyor’s Ridge and Gunsight Ridge. For something a little less challenging, try Knebal Springs Loop or Timberline.

Visit Museums and Exhibits

The largest museum in Oregon and the seventh oldest in the United States, if you’re into art and culture, the Portland Art Museum is a perfect stop. Be sure to check out the Northwest Film Center while you are there.

If the Portland Art Museum is a little too mainstream for your taste, check out Portland’s more specific and eccentric offerings. For all things “inexplicable and freaky,” check out Freakybuttrue Peculiarum. For robust collections of very specific items, check out the National Hat Museum, the Lincoln Street Kayak and Canoe Museum, and the Rice Northwest Museum of Rocks & Minerals.
