Pricing & Costs
Transparent pricing, no dealer markup, no haggling.
What’s the starting price for each model?
Every 2027 van is a Backcountry, and the price always includes the van itself. Starting prices are:
- LV3 from $99,800
- LV5 from $114,800
- LV7 from $129,800
Build your configuration in the online builder to see live pricing as you add options.
Are your prices negotiable?
No, and that keeps things fair for everyone. We keep costs down by standardizing our floor plans instead of customizing every build, and we pass that efficiency straight to you. The price you see is the price you pay: no dealer markup, no haggling.
What’s included in the website price, and what’s extra?
The website price is the van, fully built, including the RAM ProMaster chassis and every included system installed. On top of that you’ll have:
- A $699 documentation and processing fee, which covers financing paperwork, purchase document processing, and your New Van Day walkthrough.
- Shipping, if you’re not picking up in Rifle. This varies by distance, up to roughly $4,900.
- Your local sales tax, registration, and titling fees, which vary by location.
We partner with 50 State DMV to handle titling and registration, so in most cases you won’t need to visit the DMV yourself.
What are the registration and titling fees for?
For out-of-state buyers, we partner with 50 State DMV to process your title and registration in-house. The fees you pay us are passed directly to your state for the title and registration, which keeps your time at the DMV to a minimum. Every state is different, and some require an in-person inspection, but we guide you through it. Once processed, your plates, registration, and title (if you have no lien) are mailed to the address of your choosing.
For Colorado buyers, we collect titling fees and sales tax and process your title in-house. Once your title is posted, you complete registration at the DMV, where the applicable Colorado DMV fees are due.
How much do add-ons cost?
A lot of what used to be an add-on is now standard for 2027, including the composting toilet, the full-length roof rack, insulated window and vent covers, and 400W of solar. Popular remaining upgrades include 12V air conditioning (standard on the LV7), an off-grid battery boost, all-terrain tires, a Nature’s Head composting toilet, a side ladder, running boards, and a foldaway rear seat. The builder shows live pricing for every option as you add it, so you always see the real number before you commit.
Are the exterior colors included, or do some cost extra?
White and Silver come standard. Granite and Sandstone are premium finishes for about $500 more. Ceramic Grey is our one limited color, new for 2027, at about $700.
We build Ceramic Grey in small batches each year, so it’s offered first-come while that year’s run lasts. If it’s the color you want, reserve early, because once the year’s builds are spoken for it’s gone until the next order. You’ll see every color and its price in the builder.
Are there any current promotions or sales?
Our pricing is our best pricing, year-round. The number you see is what you pay, so there’s no haggling and no reason to wait for a sale. We keep costs down by building to standard floor plans instead of discounting, and we’d rather price honestly all year than run the kind of constant promotions that just train people to hold out.
Once in a while, usually around a specific event, we’ll offer something small like an accessory or shipping credit. Those are the exception, not the rhythm, and they aren’t worth waiting for. If there’s real value on the table right now, it’s the 2027 Launch Edition credit on the LV5 and LV7, which rewards reserving early while the limited slots last. Waiting mostly just costs you, since our prices tend to rise from year to year, not fall.
Financing & Payment
RV loans, longer terms, lower payments.
Do you offer financing? What kind of loan is it?
Yes. Because our vans are built to RVIA standards, they qualify as Class B RVs, so you get an RV loan rather than a vehicle loan. The difference matters: RV loans offer terms up to 20 years with lower monthly payments, versus the 5 to 7 years typical of a vehicle loan. Our primary lending partner is BMO.
What credit score and income do I need?
BMO typically looks for a credit score of 680 or higher and annual income of $80,000 or more, along with your credit history and debt-to-income ratio. A strong purchase history, such as a prior home or vehicle loan, helps. A cosigner with strong credit can help if the primary applicant is under the thresholds, and may even improve your rate.
What are the interest rates?
For good to excellent credit, current rates through BMO are roughly 6.5 to 8.5% APR, depending on your credit tier. If you submit a credit application through our site, our team can give you early guidance on eligibility. That initial review is not a hard credit check and does not guarantee approval. Rates are subject to change with the market.
What’s the minimum down payment?
BMO requires at least 10% down. Your $2,500 deposit counts toward that down payment, and the remaining balance is due when your van enters production. You’re welcome to put down more than 10% to lower your monthly payment and potentially your APR.
How much is the deposit, and is it refundable?
The deposit is $2,500 and is non-refundable. It secures your build slot (or an available van) and counts toward your final price, so it’s not an added fee. You can pay it by credit card with no processing fee. It’s non-refundable because once you place it, we begin ordering parts for your specific van and reserve your place in our production schedule.
What payment methods do you accept?
Deposit: credit card, no fee. Remaining balance and down payment: ACH or wire transfer (no fee), cashier’s check (no fee), or credit/debit card (a 3% processing fee applies to amounts above the $2,500 deposit).
Can I pay off the loan early?
Yes. BMO has no prepayment penalties, so you can pay the minimum, make extra payments, or pay off the loan entirely at any time without a fee.
What if my credit score is below 680?
We also partner with My Financing USA, an alternative lender that works with multiple banks and has more flexible approval criteria. Interest rates through alternative lenders may be higher.
Can I arrange my own financing?
Yes, you’re welcome to secure financing through your own lender. If you go that route, let us know early, because every lender handles title and registration a little differently. You’ll provide documentation of loan eligibility, your down payment invoice is due to us before your van enters production, and the final invoice is due when your van is complete.
When does my first payment start?
Your first monthly payment to BMO is due about 45 days from the date of sale (when your paperwork is processed). BMO sends a letter with your account details, and you can set up payments online.
When should I apply for financing?
A BMO credit application is good for 60 days, so apply about two months before your expected delivery date. That way your rate can be locked and finalized in time. Applying too far in advance means the approval can expire before delivery.
Do you offer a military discount?
Yes, $500 off for all active or retired military personnel. We do not currently offer a separate first responder discount.
Van Models & Sizing
Three sizes, one standard of build.
What are the differences between the LV3, LV5, and LV7?
All three are built on the RAM ProMaster high-roof chassis with the same kitchen layout, front cab, and core features. The difference is length and bed layout:
- LV3, 18 feet, 136-inch wheelbase. The most compact option, around 18 to 19 mpg. Bed runs east-west (sideways) as a short queen. Best for weekenders and solo travelers.
- LV5, 19.6 feet, 159-inch wheelbase. About the length of a standard pickup, around 16 to 17 mpg. Choose a short queen, short king, or a full-size bed with a storage wardrobe. A great middle ground.
- LV7, 21 feet, 159-inch extended wheelbase, around 16 to 17 mpg. Short king, or a full-size bed running front to back with a storage cabinet alongside. The most living space.
The LV5 and LV7 share the same wheelbase and drive almost identically. The LV7’s extra length is barely noticeable while driving but adds meaningful interior living space.
Which van is best for full-time living?
The LV7 is our strong recommendation for full-time living. The extra length gives you meaningfully more space, and full-time owners consistently tell us the difference is worth it. For part-time or weekend use, the LV3 or LV5 can be a perfect fit.
Will it fit in my garage?
Lengths are: LV3 18 feet, LV5 19.6 feet, LV7 21 feet. Exterior height is about 9.5 feet with the vents closed, so it can fit in a garage with 9.5-foot or taller clearance. It will not fit in a standard parking garage. Measure your space and compare before you buy.
What’s Standard for 2027
One well-equipped build. The gear people used to add on is now included.
Is there more than one trim for 2027?
No. For 2027 every DM Van is a Backcountry, built on the SLT chassis. We retired the old Trailhead trim so you get one thoughtfully equipped standard across the lineup, instead of choosing between a stripped-down base and a loaded version.
What comes standard on every 2027 van?
Every 2027 Backcountry ships complete, including:
- Lithium power that scales by model (600Ah on the LV3, 900Ah on the LV5, 1200Ah on the LV7), with 400W solar and 100A DC-DC charging
- Dual front swivel seats
- A hideaway Trelino composting toilet
- A full-length aluminum roof rack
- Insulated magnetic window covers and vent covers
- The Peak Heating System
- Advanced safety features and a 10.1-inch touchscreen with navigation
- Baltic birch cabinetry and woven vinyl flooring
The LV7 also includes 12V air conditioning as standard.
What is the Launch Edition?
The Launch Edition is a limited run of fully dialed 2027 Backcountry builds that comes with a credit toward the add-ons that make the van yours: up to $2,500 in credit on the LV5 and up to $3,000 on the LV7. It’s a small batch, just 10 LV5 and 10 LV7 builds, so once the slots are reserved they’re gone. Availability is limited, so ask our team how many remain.
Battery, Solar & Electrical
All-electric. No propane, no gas generator.
What battery and solar come standard?
Every 2027 van comes with self-heating lithium power and 400W of roof solar standard. Battery capacity scales with the model: 600Ah on the LV3, 900Ah on the LV5, and 1200Ah on the LV7. You can add portable solar for up to 800W total, and larger off-grid battery options are available in the builder.
How long can I stay off-grid?
It depends on your battery size and how you use power. With normal loads (lights, phone charging, induction cooktop, refrigerator) and no A/C:
- 600Ah: a week or more for most owners
- 900Ah to 1200Ah: extended off-grid living with minimal concern, even with heavier use
A/C is the biggest draw. Running continuously on a full charge:
- 600Ah: roughly 6 to 10 hours
- 1200Ah: 12 to 20 hours, even in hot conditions
In practice you’re rarely draining from full to empty. Solar tops the batteries off during the day and driving recharges them through the alternator, so most owners find they seldom need to plug in. Bigger batteries mostly just remove any thought of power management beyond A/C.
How does the battery charge?
Three ways: solar panels (best with direct overhead sun), the alternator via a DC-DC charger while you drive (a few hours of driving substantially recharges the system), and shore power when plugged in at a campground or outlet (the fastest method). Most owners rely on a mix of solar and driving and rarely need to plug in.
What appliances and outlets are included?
Everything runs off the lithium system, no propane or gas generator. The kitchen has a single-burner induction cooktop and a compact 12V compressor refrigerator and freezer. A 3,000-watt inverter runs standard 120V appliances, with two 120V outlets (one on the kitchen control panel, one in the rear gearage) and several USB ports in the kitchen and on the rear pillars near the bed.
Can I upgrade battery or solar after purchase?
Yes. You can bring the van back to us in Rifle or use a third-party installer. Our customer experience team can help coordinate and recommend local options.
Climate Control (Heating & A/C)
Built to be comfortable in real weather.
How does the heating system work?
The Peak Heating System runs off the van’s gas tank through a small 12V fan, using roughly a cup of gas per day (a full tank running the heater consistently lasts about 30 days). There’s no propane and no separate fuel source. It’s thermostat-controlled and mounted under the floor behind the swivel seats. Owners have run it in temperatures as low as -40°F with comfortable interiors around 64°F. In the cold, set it to about 58°F while sleeping and about 42°F when away (above freezing to protect your water and batteries).
What air conditioning options are available?
Our A/C is an efficient 12V unit that runs roughly 8 to 10 hours off-grid on a full battery system, enough to cool the space quickly before bed or hold a comfortable temperature. It’s standard on the LV7 and available as an add-on on the LV3 and LV5 (about $4,800), or it can be added after purchase through us or a local installer.
Do I need both heat and A/C?
It depends on your climate and plans. The Peak Heating System is standard and essential for cold weather. A/C is strongly recommended for hot or humid climates or if you travel with pets. In moderate climates, the two vent fans and side windows provide substantial ventilation on their own.
Is it really four-season capable?
Yes. Thinsulate insulation on all four sides (floor, ceiling, and walls), all water piping is internal so there’s no winterization, and the Peak Heating System runs efficiently in sub-zero temperatures. The van runs on regular gasoline, an advantage over diesel in cold climates, since diesel can gel in extreme cold.
Toilet, Shower & Water
Simple systems, everything you need.
What toilet comes with the van?
Every 2027 van includes a hideaway Trelino composting toilet as standard. It separates liquids from solids: liquids go in a bottle you empty every week or so (you can pour it into any toilet), and solids go in a separate container with a composting medium that you crank after use. Solids become compost you can bag and put in regular trash, roughly monthly. There’s no black tank, no chemicals, and no hunting for a dump station. It tucks away into the storage bench when you don’t need it.
If you prefer a larger-capacity system, a Nature’s Head composting toilet is available as a $2,500 upgrade. Either way, owners consistently rate the composting toilet one of the most worthwhile parts of the build.
Is there an interior shower?
No, and that’s intentional. A true built-in shower would cost around $15,000, require 30-plus gallons of water and a black tank, and eat significant interior space, and most van lifers use one far less than they expect. Instead, the kitchen faucet has an extendable hose that works as a rinse-off through the sliding or rear doors. For full showers, owners use gym memberships (locations nationwide), city rec centers, campground showers, or a portable shower with a privacy curtain at the rear doors. We do offer a collapsible portable external shower that can also be used inside and preserves your interior space. This is part of the philosophy: everything you need, nothing you don’t.
How much water does the van hold? Is it enough?
The van has a 7-gallon fresh tank and a 7-gallon gray tank, both in removable containers under the kitchen sink. Everything is internal, so there’s no external plumbing and no winterization, and a small electric pump feeds the faucet. Seven gallons covers cooking, drinking, and brushing teeth for about a week for one person. For more people, carry extra 7-gallon containers (available as an accessory); the fresh container has a quick-connect fitting and refills at any grocery store water station. Gray water is kitchen-sink drainage only, not black water, and can be emptied at any dump station. Rinsing the gray tank occasionally with white vinegar is a good habit.
Driving, Parking & Performance
Easier to drive than most people expect.
Is it hard to drive? Will it fit in normal parking spots?
It’s much easier than people expect. The ProMaster’s front-wheel drive gives it a tight turning radius, it parks in standard spots, and it’s comparable in footprint to a large pickup. The backup camera helps with clearance, and after a few days it feels completely natural. Two things to remember: you have a longer vehicle behind you, so clear your rear end when turning, and at about 9.5 feet tall it will not fit in a standard parking garage.
Why do you build on the RAM ProMaster instead of a Sprinter or Transit?
Three reasons. Cost: the ProMaster chassis, parts, and service are significantly less expensive and available nationwide. Space: its wider, boxier interior is the most livable of the comparable platforms. Drivability: front-wheel drive gives a tight turning radius and excellent traction with the build’s weight over the front axle. We also buy chassis in bulk directly from RAM at a dealer discount and pass that on to you.
What about all-wheel drive?
The ProMaster is front-wheel drive only; RAM doesn’t make an AWD version. With all-terrain tires and the build’s weight over the front axle, it handles snow, gravel, and forest service roads confidently, and owners regularly drive Colorado winters and mountain passes without issue. Comparable AWD Sprinter or Transit builds run roughly $30,000 to $50,000 more. The only places FWD with all-terrain tires can’t take you are extremely muddy, sandy, or steep off-road trails.
What kind of gas mileage does it get?
Roughly 18 to 19 mpg on the LV3 and 16 to 17 mpg on the LV5 and LV7. All models run on regular gasoline, an advantage in cold climates where diesel can gel.
What’s the towing capacity?
A 2-inch hitch receiver is standard on every van. Refer to the RAM ProMaster specs for the rated capacity on your chassis, and remember the build adds weight, which reduces the effective towing capacity below the factory rating.
What’s the height and interior clearance?
Interior standing height is 6 feet 3 inches at center. Exterior height is about 9.5 feet with the vents closed, so it fits in garages with 9.5-foot or higher clearance but not in standard parking garages.
What tires come standard?
Factory RAM tires are standard and handle normal roads, gravel, and forest service roads fine. All-terrain tires are a popular upgrade that makes a real difference in snow and rough conditions, and they’re sometimes included in promotions.
Bed & Sleeping
Memory foam, real sleeping space.
What size is the bed? Can two people sleep comfortably?
Bed layout depends on the model:
- LV3: short queen (60″ x 72″) running east-west across the van. Best for people around 5’10” and under.
- LV5: your choice of short queen, short king, or a full-size bed with a storage wardrobe. North-south layouts add length, and bump-outs in the rear door windows add a few more inches of effective sleeping space.
- LV7: a full-size bed running front to back with a storage cabinet alongside, or remove the cabinet for a wider short king.
All beds use a memory foam mattress. Two people sleep comfortably in any layout, with the LV7 offering the most room for couples.
Can I fit additional sleepers?
A foldaway second-row rear seat is available for about $4,100 (it adds two seats and seatbelts and folds out of the way when not in use). The gearage under the bed platform, about 34 inches of clearance, can hold sleeping pads, air mattresses, or cots, which is especially handy for kids. Some owners add a pop-up rooftop tent later, though that’s a more involved conversion.
Interior Space, Storage & Livability
Open, spacious, and built to live in.
Is there enough space? Where do I put my stuff?
The ProMaster has the largest interior of the comparable platforms, and because we don’t install a permanent shower, the space feels open. Storage includes kitchen cabinets and drawers, overhead bed shelves with bungees, the gearage under the bed (about 34 inches high, fits mountain bikes without removing the wheels), and storage cubes between the bed and the side door depending on configuration. The LV5 and LV7 also offer a wardrobe next to the bed. With the front seats swiveled, you can seat five or more people inside for socializing.
Can I work remotely from the van?
Yes. The van includes a Lagun swivel table (about 1 by 2 feet) that works as a laptop desk, and you can swivel the front passenger seat to face it while using the kitchen counter for a second monitor. With enough battery capacity, running a laptop and Starlink isn’t a significant power draw.
What Starlink setup do you recommend?
The Starlink Mini is the most popular choice among our owners: small, flexible, and effective. It can sit on the dashboard or mount on the roof with a suction or magnet mount.
Customization & Modifications
Flexible within a proven framework.
How flexible are you with custom layouts?
We build on standard floor plans with cabinetry cut in-house on a CNC machine. The core build is fixed (the bed platform and kitchen sit in set positions), but there’s real flexibility within that: you can remove storage cubes, choose bed orientation on the LV5, add or remove the wardrobe, add accessories, and pick options a la carte in the builder. We don’t do fully custom one-off builds or convert customer-supplied vans, because RVIA certification requires us to build on brand-new chassis sourced directly from RAM.
Can I add features after delivery?
Yes. A/C, running boards, solar, and other accessories can be added later, either at our Rifle shop or through a local installer our customer experience team helps you find. Most upgrades take a few hours to a day or two, and because all cabinetry is Baltic birch, it’s easy to work with for DIY additions.
Can I bring my own van for conversion?
No. We source all ProMaster chassis in bulk directly from RAM at a dealer discount that we pass on to you. Building on brand-new vans is also required for our RVIA certification.
Warranty & Support
Backed by the people who built it.
What warranty comes with the van?
You get two separate warranties:
- RAM chassis warranty: 3-year / 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper plus 5-year / 100,000-mile powertrain, serviced at any RAM dealership nationwide. It begins when the van is processed as sold.
- DM Vans craftsmanship guarantee: a 3-year warranty on the build itself (cabinetry, structure, flooring) and 1-year coverage on individual components (heater, refrigerator, electrical, fans, and the like). Component and craftsmanship coverage is upgradable, and it starts at delivery.
Because the vans are RVIA-certified, any RV service center nationwide can also perform maintenance and repairs.
What support do I get after I buy?
Every owner gets a comprehensive New Van Day walkthrough covering all systems (electrical, plumbing, toilet, heating, and water), either in person in Rifle or virtually for shipped vans. Our customer experience team is available for the life of the van at no charge. Because the build is intentionally simple, roughly 90% of questions can be resolved over the phone, and for anything hands-on, the team helps you find a local service provider.
Where do I get service if I’m out of state?
For chassis or engine issues (dashboard warning lights, engine or transmission trouble, infotainment, anything vehicle-specific), any RAM dealership handles warranty service and should be your first stop. For build and van-system issues, our customer experience team is here to help, and because the van is RVIA-certified, most RV dealerships can work on it. We help find and recommend local service and cover the cost during the warranty period.
Does the warranty transfer to a second owner?
The DM Vans craftsmanship warranty does not transfer between owners, and used DM Vans are sold as-is. The RAM chassis warranty transfers per RAM’s standard policy.
What about RAM recalls?
Recalls are handled through any RAM dealership under the manufacturer warranty at no cost. We coordinate with RAM on active recalls and only deliver vans that RAM has cleared.
Insurance & Registration
Certified Class B RV, which makes both easier.
How do I insure the van?
Thanks to RVIA certification, the van is a certified Class B RV, which usually makes insurance easier and cheaper than insuring a custom conversion. When you call insurers, describe it as a “DM Van (LV3, LV5, or LV7), RVIA-certified Class B RV,” not a “RAM ProMaster conversion,” because that distinction affects your rate. Always list the DM Vans build year, not the RAM chassis year. Popular choices among owners include Roamly and Progressive, with standard collision, theft, and comprehensive coverage. Rates vary by individual.
How does out-of-state registration work?
We partner with 50 State DMV, a titling service registered in all 50 states, to handle titling and registration on your behalf, so in most cases you won’t visit the DMV. We collect the applicable taxes and fees, process the paperwork, and your plates are mailed to you. The van comes with 60-day Colorado temporary tags (extendable to 120 days if needed). In some cases you may still pick up plates at a local DMV office once the title is posted.
What year do I list, the chassis year or the build year?
Always the DM Vans build year. The chassis may have been manufactured by RAM in an earlier year, but for titling, registration, insurance, warranty, and resale, it is a DM Vans model of its build year. If an insurer or DMV clerk tries to use the chassis year, correct them.
What’s an MCO, and why are there two?
An MCO (Manufacturer’s Certificate of Origin) is like a birth certificate for a new vehicle. Your van comes with two: one from RAM for the chassis, and one from DM Vans as the final-stage manufacturer. Both are needed for titling.
What documents need to be notarized?
Only the limited power of attorney requires notarization, and both buyers (if you’re co-applicants) must sign in front of the notary. Leave the appointee section blank; we fill it in later. Other documents (buyer’s order, odometer disclosure, title application) need physical signatures but not notarization. BMO’s retail installment contract requires wet signatures and is mailed to you for signing.
RVIA Certification
One of the biggest differences between us and a custom converter.
What does RVIA certified mean, and why should I care?
DM Vans is a final-stage manufacturer and Class B RV dealership certified by the RV Industry Association. That certification gives you real, practical benefits:
- Your title says “DM Van,” so the documented value includes the whole conversion, not just the chassis.
- RV financing: banks offer RV loans with terms up to 20 years, versus 5 to 7 for a vehicle loan. Most banks won’t finance a non-certified build as an RV.
- Better insurance rates, because insurers recognize it as a certified Class B RV.
- Documented resale value, since NADA book value applies, unlike custom conversions that are hard to appraise.
- Nationwide service at any RV service center.
- Safety standards for construction, electrical, and plumbing.
Custom converters often take six months or more, have you supply your own van, can’t be serviced by RV dealers, and carry no standardized value.
Delivery & Pickup
Pick up in Rifle or have it delivered.
Do you ship nationwide? How much does it cost?
Yes, we deliver nationwide (except Hawaii and Alaska) through a third-party shipping company on a fully insured flatbed trailer. Cost varies by distance from Rifle, Colorado, up to about $4,900, and transit usually takes just a few days.
How do I get to Rifle, Colorado for pickup?
A few options:
- Eagle County Regional Airport (Vail): closest, about 30 to 45 minutes away. We can help coordinate transportation.
- Denver International Airport: cheapest flights. Take the Bustang bus up I-70 to Rifle, about 4 hours, around $32.
- Grand Junction Airport: about 45 minutes away.
Our facility is at 6 Power Line Road, Rifle, Colorado.
What happens at pickup?
Our team does a full handoff and walkthrough at the Rifle facility covering every system, and you receive temporary tags and keys. Plan for 30 minutes to an hour depending on your questions. You’ll need active insurance before driving off the lot.
If there’s shipping damage, who handles it?
The shipping company’s insurance covers the van from the moment it leaves our lot. If anything is damaged in transit, you work directly with the shipping company, whose contact information the driver provides.
How do temporary tags work?
We issue Colorado temporary tags valid for 60 days, and if titling isn’t complete by then a second set can be issued for another 60 days (120 total). Temp tags let you drive across state lines, and your permanent plates are mailed once the state processes the title.
The Buying Process
From first call to New Van Day.
How does the buying process work, start to finish?
Step by step:
- 1. A free consultation call to talk through your needs and options.
- 2. A $2,500 non-refundable deposit secures your van and build slot and locks in your pricing.
- 3. Your van enters the production schedule.
- 4. Your 10% down payment is due when the van enters production (the $2,500 deposit counts toward it).
- 5. We build your van.
- 6. Financing paperwork is processed during the build with BMO or your chosen lender.
- 7. Pickup in Rifle, or delivery by flatbed.
- 8. New Van Day: a full in-person or virtual walkthrough of every system.
The current timeline from deposit to delivery is about 11 to 12 weeks, depending on your position in the queue, chassis size, and color choice. Check with our team for the latest estimate.
How long does the build take?
Actual build time is about 4 to 5 weeks once your van enters production. Right now the full timeline from deposit to delivery runs about 11 to 12 weeks, depending on your place in the queue, chassis size, and color choice. Special color orders can take longer. Ask our team for the latest lead time when you’re ready.
Can I visit the facility?
Yes. We welcome visitors at 6 Power Line Road, Rifle, Colorado, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. Walk-ins are welcome, but we recommend calling ahead so we can have a van available to tour. If you can’t visit in person, our team offers video calls and virtual tours anytime.
Can I rent or try a van before buying?
We no longer offer direct rentals, but some current owners rent their vans on Outdoorsy.com, which is a great way to experience the exact product in the real world.
Can I hold or delay my delivery?
We can hold a finished van on our lot for up to 60 days; beyond that we’ll need to coordinate. If you need a specific pickup date, let your consultant know so we can align the build schedule where possible. Because of how our production works, we usually can’t schedule beyond about two months from deposit.
Windows, Ventilation & Bug Screens
Airflow, privacy, and no bugs.
How is the airflow? Are there screens?
The van has two reversible vent fans, one over the kitchen and one over the bed, and running them in opposite directions creates a circular airflow through the cabin. Insulated magnetic blackout covers come standard for all windows (sliding door, kitchen, rear doors, and the full front cab). Bug screens are available for the sliding and rear doors (installed in the frame) plus magnetized screens for the driver and passenger windows, and the windows are tinted for privacy.
Flooring & Build Materials
Built to take a beating and clean up easy.
What’s the flooring?
We use engineered 2Tec2 woven vinyl flooring. It’s easy to clean, weatherproof, extremely durable, and resistant to scratches. Owners with large dogs report it looking like new after years of use.
What are the cabinets made of?
All cabinetry is Baltic birch, custom-cut in-house on a CNC machine at our Rifle facility. Baltic birch is easy to work with for any DIY additions or modifications later.
Resale & Trade-Ins
Certified value that holds up.
Should I buy new or used?
We don’t sell used vans, though used DM Vans do appear on the secondary market. A new DM Van comes with the full warranty, RVIA certification (which qualifies you for RV financing with up to 20-year terms, better insurance, and NADA resale value), current-year customization, and no wear. Used vans sold by owners are as-is, and the craftsmanship warranty doesn’t transfer. If a used van is bought through a third-party dealer rather than directly from us, it may not retain its RVIA certification benefits, which can limit you to a standard vehicle loan and affect insurance and resale. When you compare, weigh warranty, financing terms, insurance, and long-term resale, not just sticker price.
What’s the resale value?
Because DM Vans are RVIA-certified, they hold NADA book value, unlike custom conversions that are hard to appraise. The documented build value on the title means your resale reflects the full van, not just the chassis, which helps both financing and eventual resale.
Do you accept trade-ins?
No, we don’t accept trade-ins or consignment, so you’ll sell your current vehicle separately. The Dave and Matt Van Owners Facebook group and Vanlife Trader are good resources. If you commit to a new DM Van with a locked-in build and deposit, we have a relationship with Vanlife Trader to give you the best chance of selling your existing van.
Are there used DM Vans available?
We occasionally have used inventory, so check the site. The Dave and Matt Van Owners Facebook group is also a good place to find listings from current owners.
Community & Resources
A real community of owners.
Do you have an owners community?
Yes, the Dave and Matt Van Owners Facebook group. It’s a great place to connect with other owners, see real-world setups, ask questions, and find used vans. It isn’t managed by us, it’s run by our community of owners.
Are there video tutorials for the van systems?
Our customer experience team is building a full video tutorial library covering every system. Higher-level videos from older builds are on the DM Vans YouTube channel, and once the full library is complete we’ll share it with all current owners.
Do you attend expos or shows?
Yes, we attend RV and van life expos and shows throughout the year. Follow us on social media, check the events page on our site, or ask your consultant for upcoming dates and locations.
